Key Strengths

Powered by Positivity and Passion

crafting the tools of a doctor's trade

By those in the medical profession, Doctot's toolkit is being increasingly recognised as being exceptionally engaging, efficient and effective. This reputation for quality is earned on the back of factors such as:

Medical expertise

Doctot's Management team includes one of Ireland's most respected Medical Professionals, Declan Lyons (who is a Professor of Medical Science, a former Clinical Director of the University Hospital Limerick Group, a former Chairperson of Expert Irish Governmental Advisory Groups, an International Health Informatics Keynote Speaker, and an M Sc. in Pharmacology). The firm greatly benefits from Declan's clinical expertise, in-depth knowledge of the market, and extensive relationships with leading Health Care Professionals.

Spearheaded by Declan, our Scientific Advisory Specialists select and format our clinical content to provide HCPs with objective and reliable information where and when they need it. Developed and continually updated by expert physicians (such as:

- Prof. Andrew McIvor @ McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada,

- Prof. Tim McDonnell @ St. Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland,

- Prof. William Molloy @ Cork University Hospital, Ireland

- Dr. Nuala O'Connell, Consultant Microbiologist @ University Hospital Limerick, Ireland), and

- Dr Rónán O Caoimh, Consultant Geriatrician @ Galway University Hospital, Ireland, our Apps promise both relevance and accuracy.

As part of the design process, our team obsessively research and review primary literature, evidence-based medicine, clinical guidelines and manufacturer labelling. After gold standard content is chosen, it is formatted to suit mobile device screens in order to ensure a user's workflow experience is optimised. The quality, relevance and ease of use of such content is at the heart of our ability to not only attract but retain physicians.

ORGANISATIONAL Culture

As a Values-Based, Purpose-Driven Organisation, every action we undertake is inspired by our Organisational, Physical and Psychological Values, which help to ensure we always do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reason. (For further details, please click on the above visual).

Being a self-funded, intrinsically motivated Consortium with no responsibility or particular desire to focus upon the bottom line, we can freely prioritise Purpose Maximisation ahead of Profit Maximisation. This has helped to attract a special type of worker, one that is driven by internal rewards, one that wishes to realise their full potential. Knowing who they are, what they stand for, and what they must do (i.e. ensure Health Professionals have at their disposal the type of tools you'd want your loved ones to be treated with), our team's shared commitment has arguably become our greatest competitive advantage.

And whilst our collective purpose couldn't be more serious, we as individuals never have or will take ourselves too seriously, with a sense of fun, humility and openness underpinning all we do.

technical expertise

The need for first class User Experience and User Interface design (which not only delivers efficiencies and promotes safety but repeatedly provides moments of clarity, discovery and enjoyment), as opposed to just average UX / UI design (which tends to cause confusion, frustration, apathy and potentially even injuries) applies to Medical Devices more than possibly anywhere else in the world of design. Despite this, many Medical App industry participants pay insufficient attention to the look and/or feel of their produce.

Taking immense pride in their work, Doctot's award-winning designers strongly believe in:

- Simplifying complexity via intuitive, cohesive design (which enables Medical Professionals to immediately understand the App’s user journey without having to try to remember it),

- Purposeful core functionality that meets the specific needs (including various physical ones) of our user-base (Note: Our Native Apps have been specially crafted to deliver the following benefits: www.doctot.com/benefits),

- The use of the latest and most innovative mobile capabilities and controls (such as “Swipe Right/Left Gestures”, "Shake-to-Reset" functionality, keyboards and screen orientation) in order to optimise the speed and accuracy of each user’s inputs,

- Elegant presentation, which is partially achieved via the use of clear layouts with a consistent, smooth flow, and custom-designed interface components (such as familiar UI widgets and carefully positioned interactive buttons),

- Respecting the unique needs of different OS platforms (which prevents problematic usability, stability and security issues from arising),

- The inclusion of interesting surprises that inject colour and character into proceedings.

Thanks to this “best practice” belief system, the Doctot 2.0 platform can continuously deliver premium quality user experiences that fulfil our ambition of taking our customers on mHealth’s most effective, efficient and pleasant journey.

innovative design philosophy

Reflecting our values, personalities and preferences, our designs are an accumulation of our collective life experiences. While it is obviously extremely difficult to choose just 4 influencing factors above a lifetime’s worth of others, we feel the following deserve particular mention:

i) Design Thinking: A human-centred approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.

ii) Agile: A disciplined project management process that prioritises:

- Individuals and interactions over processes and tools,

- Working software over comprehensive documentation,

- Customer collaboration over contract negotiation, and

- Responding to change over following a plan.

iii) Biomimicry: This approach to innovation seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature's time-tested patterns and strategies.

iv) Irish Design History: With the local, the unique, the bespoke never more popular, we at Doctot continue to take inspiration from the proud traditions and culture that make Ireland so charismatic.

orgANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Asides from enabling us to place human needs and relationships first, we believe “Our < = > Approach” (which is underpinned by a Meredith Belbin-inspired belief that only teams, and not groups [who have different associated characteristics and behaviours] can create exceptional products that last the test of time) is extremely conducive towards creating high innovation levels.

With a free-flow of information throughout the organisation, all members of staff (who all possess at least a Masters' Degree, and 15+ years of relevant experience) have a significant input into the development and business processes. As a result, Doctot’s agile, lean structure ensures that the Consortium is capable of generating more knowledge while spending less than larger organisations.

The aforementioned structure fuses exceptionally talented team members with a supporting staff of professional service providers, which enables the Consortium to continue to evolve. The firm's three partners, Professor Declan Lyons (Medical Director), Fergal McDonnell (Technical Director), and Padraig McDonnell (Executive Director) are all experts in their own field, and the spread of their respective skill-sets brings a tremendous balance to proceedings. Focus group respondents, research assistants and QA-testers are also continually employed in order to fulfill the Consortium’s objectives.

High customer satisfaction levels

As exemplified by the following testimonials (http://www.doctot.com/testimonials), our Apps satisfy the needs, wants, tastes and cognitive demands of our user-base, continuously providing them with genuine objective value. This we achieve via human-focussed design strategies (where fun and engaging elements are thoughtfully applied to real-world, productivity-related medical activities).

Yet to receive a single clinical complaint (a fact we are extremely proud of), much of our success can actually be attributed to our users recommending our produce to colleagues of theirs, who in turn recommend it to their colleagues, and so forth.

In particular, Doctot possesses High Brand Affinity and Relevance levels. This is in part due to HCPs:

- Identifying with our Mission, Vision and Values (please see http://www.doctot.com/our-mission-vision-and-values for further details),

- Admiring our decision to release numerous Apps that were free of charge, with no strings of any description attached,

- Liking our amiable, natural “way”,

- Fully trusting our medical content

- Appreciating our human-focussed approach (which is briefly outlined above).
