Padraig holds an Undergraduate Degree in Business Studies (Majoring in Marketing and Management) from the University of Limerick, which he supplemented with a Masters Degree in Entrepreneurship Management.
Having achieved First Class Honours in areas such as Business Consulting, New Venture Creation, New Venture Marketing, Business Simulation, and Psychology, Padraig injects this knowledge into Doctot. Since joining the Consortium, Padraig has helped Doctot to pick up Best Medical App Awards and Hospital Pharmacy Awards, among others.
Padraig is also the co-founder of the Irish Mid-West software firm, Tailteann. For his work upon the cult classic PC game, Bainisteoir - Hurling (see www.tailteanngames.com for details), he received a prestigious National Enterprise Technology Award.
Previously short-listed for the Shell Live-Wire Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Padraig also co-founded Procall Technologies, as well as a leading Tipperary-based Chartered Physiotherapy and Performance Science clinic named Gold Standard.
Stimulated by the wide-range of responsibilities that come with the role of Doctot's Business Development Director, Padraig is carving out a reputation within the industry as an imaginative and strategic thinker.
Having devised and implemented a detailed Agile Management Framework on behalf of the Consortium, Padraig oversees all matters relating to Promotion, People, Process, Product, Price, Place, and Physical Evidence.
Thanks to his versatility, attention to detail and resourcefulness, tasks as diverse as anticipating new product opportunities, and implementing customer service protocols are executed to equally high levels.
A "Plant" according to the Belbin Behavioural Tool, Padraig particularly enjoys the area of marketing communications where his eye for the spectacular comes to the fore.
Having turned down lucrative offers to join Silicon Valley-based firms to stay and fight for Doctot's cause, Padraig also exemplifies the commitment of a typical team member.
"People see me, and they see the suit, and they go: "you're not fooling anyone", they know I'm rock and roll through and through. But you know that old thing, live fast, die young? Not my way. Live fast, sure, live too bloody fast sometimes, but die young? Die old. That's the way - not orthodox, I don't live by "the rules", you know. And if there's one other person who's influenced me in the way I think, someone who is a maverick, someone who does that (*raises middle finger*) to the system, then, it's Ian Botham. Because Beefy will happily say "that's what I think of your selection policy, yes I've hit the odd copper, yes I've enjoyed the old dooby, but will you p*** off and leave me alone, I'm walking to John O'Groats for some s*******."
As evidenced above in word and picture, Padraig is a big fan of both the UK and US versions of The Office!! Admitting to spending just a little too much time on the Internet; TED, Harvard Business Review and Psychology Today are frequent haunts that help to sate his innate curiosity. Becoming the most followed Padraig McDonnell on Twitter is a particular online career highlight!
A brother of Fergal's, Padraig differs in that he subscribes to the Arianna Huffington School of Thought where a good night's sleep is deemed essential for creativity and performance. He may however have "the dreamer's disease" that the 90's alternative rock band 'The New Radicals' referred to!
